Nina Parsons day raises £600
Draycott-in-the-Clay Post Office and Store held a Save Nina Day and we asked our customers to donate to help pay for an operation for Nina Parsons.
For most of the day the 31-year-old is confined to her bed due to the agonising pain brought on by Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Only specialised surgery in America can help her.
In addition to asking customers to dig deep, we also donated 50p for every customer who came through the door that day.
Sub-postmaster Sarah Powlson said: "We know we have wonderful customers who always help when we have collections for things like the Poppy Appeal but the response to our Save Nina Day was brilliant.
"I think Nina's story has touched a lot of people and from our youngest customers to our oldest, people were coming into the shop, emptying money boxes and just saying they wanted to help.
"We are only a small shop so to collect £385 in donations was amazing.
"We also promised to add 50p to the collection every time someone came in the shop that day and so have added £215 to the fund, making a total of £600 for Nina."
Nina's parents, John and Jill Parsons, visited the shop to collect the cheque and revealed that the fund total had now reached £48,000.
